Our partner is a beloved group with a diverse collection of award-winning restaurants. With many exciting openings on the horizon, we are now seeking a Group Head Sommelier to develop and manage the wine programme for a handful of new restaurants.
The Group Head Sommelier will:
- Curate the wine lists, offering an inventory of high-quality wines at optimal costs;
- Direct the full spectrum of wine operations to meet quality and cost targets;
- Oversee the monthly inventory;
- Guide the venue teams on best practices and service standards, ensuring consistency of service and profitability;
- Maintain positive supplier relationships and manage existing contracts and agreements;
- Manage departmental business planning, budgeting, cost controls, training, and drive continuous improvement;
- Provide regular training and support to the teams;
- Initiate and manage timelines for wine and spirits list changes and development;
- Conduct service trainings during pre-opening;
- Ensure proper staffing in all venues, supporting recruitment and interview process for beverage talent;
- Identify trends and preferences and implement updates to keep wine & spirits programme relevant and exciting to each market;
- Champion and foster a positive, inclusive culture.
We seek candidates with:
- 5+ years of experience as a Sommelier in leading companies in major metropolitan cities;
- Prior experience building award-winning wine lists;
- 3+ years of team management experience;
- Exceptional knowledge of wine & spirits;
- Outstanding interpersonal skills, with ability to engage and quickly build rapport with guests and colleagues alike;
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills;
- A passion for designing and delivering exceptional guest experiences;
- A vibrant, outgoing personality to embody the spirit of the brand.
