Our partner is a top Italian restaurant, a showcase of vibrant flavours and products from across Italy. This busy, beloved restaurant has garnered a big following for its inventive yet approachable dishes, warm, engaging atmosphere, and a dedication to top-notch products. We are now seeking a Head Chef to carry the culinary torch and bring the restaurant to new heights. 

The main responsibilities:
  • Leading and directing the team to produce consistently excellent food that guests will love and return for;
  • Building a high performing culinary team who takes pride in their work and continuously seeks to improve themselves;
  • Positioning the restaurant at the forefront of the dining scene as a trailblazer; 
  • Pushing the envelope on creativity and innovation;
  • Developing compelling and replicable menu items in line with the restaurant's ethos, using precise recipe cards with detailed costing;
  • Identifying and actioning on opportunities to generate and maximise revenue;
  • Consistently hitting set food cost and feedback targets;
  • Fostering an environment of open communication and transparency;
  • Collaborating closely with other teams on ad hoc projects, including fulfilment, photography, marketing, and events;
  • Maintaining close communication with the owners, providing ongoing accurate and detailed updates on the business. 
We seek candidates who have:
  • A minimum of 5 years of culinary experience in reputable restaurants;
  • A minimum of 2 years of management experience leading a team of 8 or more;
  • Intimate knowledge of Italian cuisine, in particular proficiency in handmade pasta;
  • In-depth knowledge of kitchen processes, policies, technologies, and best practices;
  • Exceptional analytical and proactive problem-solving skills;
  • Excellent coaching, mentoring, and training skills; ability to bring A players to the team and continuously inspire and improve their skills;
  • A strong focus on the customer experience, with the ability to engage and delight guests in an open kitchen; 
  • A highly resourceful, efficient, and action-oriented working style; driving results while focusing on metrics;
  • A relentless pursuit of excellence;
  • The grit and tenacity to go the distance to overcome hurdles and achieve greatness;
  • A high level of flexibility and adaptability to adjust to changing priorities and cope with complexity.
